Terms and Conditions

  1. Registration to Kestrelflyer membership is open to persons aged 12 and over, with a mailing address in Mauritius or any other country that does not prohibit participation in this programme.
  2. Applicants must complete the online registration on Air Mauritius website. Evidence of travel must be produced if required and must be within the 12 months prior to the application enclosed with the application in the name of the prospective member. Industry and agent discounted tickets will not be considered for the purpose of the application. Membership commences on the date application is approved.
  3. Air Mauritius reserves the right to refuse, at any time, the membership application form or, at its discretion revoke membership of the Kestrelflyer Programme without giving any notice or reasons.
  4. Kestrelflyer Red, Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold cards are the property of Air Mauritius and can be recalled at any time.
  5. Kestrelflyer card is personal and is not transferable.
  6. Membership cards are subject to paragraph 3 and are valid up to date indicated on the card.
  7. At membership card expiry date, each member’s miles with Air Mauritius are reviewed and subject to paragraph 3 membership is renewed as per the qualification criteria.
  8. Any taxes or duties arising from participation in the programme shall be paid by the member.
  9. Miles accumulated shall also be forfeited without entitlement to compensation.
  10. Miles purchased under the Cash and Miles feature are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  11. Air Mauritius does not guarantee and accepts no liability from loss or damage arising from the provision or non-provision of services or benefits by its Program Partners.
  12. Abuse of the Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold services and benefits; failure to follow the programme Terms and Conditions; or any misinterpretation of information relating to the programme may result in cancellation of membership.
  13. Members should notify the Customer Loyalty Centre of any change of address or email if any in writing.
  14. By accepting to become a member of the Kestrelflyer programme, the applicant hereby consents to the collection, processing and use of any personal data regarding the applicant, provided at the time of the application or to be provided when already a member to Air Mauritius, for:

    (a) the purposes of handling the member’s account with Air Mauritius;
    (b) marketing purposes and sharing the personal data to Air Mauritius program partners;and/or
    (c) such other purpose as may be permitted by applicable laws and regulations.

    Should an applicant at any time after becoming a member request in writing to stop, or not to begin the processing of his personal data for marketing purposes and sharing his personal data to other program partners, Air Mauritius shall as soon as reasonably practicable stop the processing of the personal data to the member for marketing and sharing purposes.

    If you do not agree to our use of the information as set out above, you should inform us as soon as possible by writing to us at mkloyal@airmauritius.com. 

    In accordance with the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017, you may ask us in writing for a copy of the information we hold about you and to correct any inaccuracies in your information. We aim to respond to you within one month as from date of request.

  15. An administration fee of 10 Euros will be charged for replacement of misplaced / lost cards.
  16. Air Mauritius reserves the right to amend, modify, alter and/or terminate at any time, without giving notice, throughout the world, or in a specific country the Kestrelflyer programme. This include the right of Air Mauritius to terminate at any time the right of any or all members of the Kestrelflyer to earn or redeem mileage and/or other benefits enjoyed under the present scheme.
  17. Air Mauritius shall not be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, or consequential resulting from termination or change of the rules pertaining to the Kestrelflyer scheme or any of the facilities, benefits or arrangements which are made available to Kestrelflyer members including the withdrawal or limiting of any such benefits, facilities or arrangements advertised or provided to the Kestrelflyer member.
  18. While Air Mauritius will use its reasonable endeavors to ensure that the services, benefits, facilities and/or arrangements expressed or advertised as being available to Kestrelflyer members, Air Mauritius does not guarantee that such services, benefits, facilities and/or arrangements will be made available and Air Mauritius will not be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect or consequential from the provision or non-provision, whether in whole or in part, of any such services, benefits, facilities or arrangements.
  19. In the event of death of a member, membership will be terminated and all accumulated mileage and unused awards will be cancelled.
  20. The rules and regulations as set down below will apply to you as a kestrelflyer member and form part of the Terms and Conditions.
  21. The Terms and Conditions of the Kestrelflyer scheme are governed by the Laws of the Republic of Mauritius. In the event of any dispute both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Mauritian courts.
  • Kestrelflyer programme is an individual program, a corporation is not eligible to become a member.
  • Members can update their profile details online.
  • In the event a Frequent Flyer member wishes to change his status to nominee, a fee of 50 Eur is applicable.
  • The three levels of membership are: Kestrelflyer Red, Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold.
  • The membership tier level depends on the number of qualifying miles earned by the member, within a period of 3 years as applicable.
  • Air Mauritius may change the number of qualifying miles required for each tier levels, at any time, without any notice.
  • Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold cards are valid for 3 years.
  • The additional baggage allowance benefit with Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold cards will be allowed upon presentation of the valid card at check in counters. Failure to which Air Mauritius does not guarantee acceptance of the additional luggage and the normal fees for excess luggage will be charged to the passengers.
  • The additional baggage allowance benefit with Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold cards is not applicable on code share flights operated by "South African Airways", “Malaysian Airlines”, "Emirates" and “KLM”.
  • Applicable only on Air Mauritius direct flights from/to Mauritius.
  • Confirmation of seats for all award tickets is subject to space availability in the required booking class.
  • All applicable taxes (including airport and/or government taxes), carrier imposed charges are payable at time of award tickets issuance.
  • Award ticket one way is not applicable with our partner Emirates.
  • Award tickets are not applicable on code share flights operated by "South African Airways" and “Malaysian Airlines”.
  • Award ticket in Premium Economy is valid on Air Mauritius flights operated by Air France.
  • Members will not earn miles when traveling on award tickets.
  • Award tickets are valid for a maximum stay of 12 months as from first date of departure.
  • A change fee of EUR40 applies for change of date for the following destinations: Paris, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong-Kong, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Singapore, Bengaluru, Cape Town, Chennai, Mumbai, Durban, Johannesburg, and Nairobi.
  • A change fee of EUR25 applies for change of date for the following destinations: Antananarivo, Reunion, and Rodrigues.
  • Any additional taxes will be collected upon ticket re-issuance.
  • Change of routing is not permitted.
  • Award tickets cannot be upgraded except for last minute upgrade offer at the airport or Upgrade Now offer.
  • A member can redeem miles for award tickets for self, nominees and beneficiaries.
  • Award tickets redemption is not possible for infants (person under 2 years old).
    The same number of miles is required for adult and children’s award tickets (aged between 2 and 12 years old).
  • Cancellation of award ticket is permitted only if ticket is fully unused. However, expired miles will not be re-credited to a Member's Account. Cancellation fee may apply.
  • Request for award tickets must be made at least one week before departure date either by filling in the required award request form or by submitting the online request.
  • When requesting an award ticket, a Member may be requested to supply a copy of his or her passport.
  • Confirmation of seats in Premium Economy and Business class is subject to space availability in the required booking class.
  • Upgrading to Premium Economy is possible ONLY on Air France operated flights to and from Paris.
  • For upgraded tickets against miles, miles will be credited based on the original class of travel.
  • Any additional taxes (including airport and/or government taxes), carrier imposed charges are payable at time of upgrading of the ticket (re-issuance of ticket).
  • Using miles for upgrading is not permitted on staff or rebated tickets, industry and agent discounted tickets or any other free tickets.
  • A member can redeem miles for upgrading for self, nominees and beneficiaries.
  • Cancellation of upgrading is permitted only if ticket is fully unused. However, expired miles will not be re-credited to a Member's Account. Cancellation fee may apply.
  • Excess luggage can be in form of weight or piece concept depending on the routing.
  • An electronic document “Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)” is issued when miles are redeemed for excess luggage.
  • The Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) is valid for the routing for maximum of 1 year.
  • On Rodrigues, a member can redeem a minimum of 5 kg and a maximum of 15 kg.
  • Once EMD is issued, cancellation/change of routing/change of passenger name/change of date are not permitted.
  • Member must present the EMD at check-in counters to avail of the excess luggage Failure to which Air Mauritius does not guarantee acceptance of the additional luggage and the normal fees for excess luggage will be charged to the passengers.
  • A member can redeem miles for excess for self, nominees and beneficiaries.
  • Lounge access is available at SSR International Airport and Air Mauritius designated lounges.
  • The lounge access benefit for Kestrelflyer Gold cardholders will be allowed upon presentation of a valid card. Failure to which Air Mauritius does not guarantee access to the lounge.
  • Kestrelflyer gold members may, irrespective of their class of travel, invite one guest traveling on the same flight to join them in the Air Mauritius lounge Les Salons Amédee Maingard at SSR International Airport only. Lounge access is available 4 hours prior to the flight.
  • Lounge access is available only when travelling on an Air Mauritius flight number.
  • Kestrelflyer Silver and Kestrelflyer Gold members may opt to add nominees.
  • Nominees are elected members of the family who can only contribute 50% of their travel miles into cardholder’s account.
  • Nominees are spouse and children (as from 2 years old) OR father and mother.
  • Nominees do not hold full membership status.
  • A copy of birth certificate must be provided at the time of registration of the nominees.
    Nominee miles will be credited into parent member’s account for travels made after/as from the date the parent member has reached the Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold status.
  • A nominee card is issued for identification only.
  • Members must ensure that the Nominee card number is inserted in booking/reservation for automatic nominee miles update.
  • A member may opt to remove a nominee from his account. The nominee will become a member and start accumulating miles in his own account. Any travels already credited as nominee miles will not be cancelled and transferred.
  • A written memo must be obtained from Frequent Flyer giving approval to remove the Nominee from his/her account.
  • Nominee miles are non-qualifying miles and are not considered for card renewal or upgrade. They can be used for awards only.
  • A Beneficiary is someone elected by a member to receive an award.
  • A beneficiary can be a cardholder and can accumulate miles in his name.
  • A nominee can also be a beneficiary.
  • Cash & Miles applies for Award tickets (return tickets only) on Air Mauritius and airline partners.
  • Cash & Miles applies for upgrading only on Air Mauritius flights.
  • Members can purchase a minimum of 50 miles at EUR 1 (or the local currency equivalent).
  • Miles purchased are non-qualifying and will not be considered for card renewal or card tier change.
  • Air Mauritius reserves the right to change the price of the purchased miles and to impose additional restrictions on purchasing miles at any time.
  • Payment can be made through credit card. You may also pay cash at your local Air Mauritius office.
  • All discounts associated to the membership tier will be allowed up on presentation of a valid card to the service providers. Failure to which Air Mauritius does not guarantee provision of such discounts.
  • Discounts are not cumulative.
  • Discount rates may be reviewed anytime during the year without prior notice.
  • Miles accrued with our partners are non-qualifying and are valid for 3 years.
  • Kestrelflyer card must be presented to our partner upon purchase and payment of the services. Failure to which Air Mauritius does not guarantee partner miles credit into member’s account.
  • Non-airline Partner miles do not apply to nominees.

 

  • Tier bonus miles are miles earned by Kestrelflyer Gold cardholders.
  • Tier bonus miles represent 50% of miles earned in Economy class as applicable on Air Mauritius flights.
  • Tier bonus miles are non-qualifying miles and will not be considered for card renewal or card tier change.
  • Tier Bonus is not applicable on miles earned with our airline partners.
  • Priority check-in benefit provided to Kestrelflyer Silver or Kestrelflyer Gold cardholders is subject to availability of counters at airports and upon presentation of a valid card at check in counters.
  • Kestrelflyer member can benefit from carriage of one golf bag free of charge for travel on AIR MAURITIUS / AIR FRANCE flights on the Paris - Mauritius route and on approved flights on our partner Air France to / from destinations beyond hub Roissy Charles de Gaulle.
  • The bag should contain only golf equipment and should not exceed the maximum weight of 20 kg.
  • Golf bags must be checked in separately from checked baggage.
  • Request for kestrelflyer Golf voucher must be made online and will be sent to the member by email.
  • Two copies must be presented at check-in, one at your departure airport and the other when checking in for your return trip.
  • Without the Golf voucher, the applicable fee for the golf bag will be charged if the latter cannot be permitted within your normal baggage allowance.
  • Members must ensure that the name and kestrelflyer membership number registered on the Golf Voucher match the information on the kestrelflyer membership card and the ticket.
  • If any of the connecting flights is on an airline which is not an AIR MAURITIUS partner, the applicable fee for golf bag may be charged.
  • There are 2 types of miles- Qualifying Miles and Non-Qualifying miles.
  • Qualifying Miles are miles earned on sectors travelled by the cardholder irrespective of class of travel, on Air Mauritius flight numbers, to and from Mauritius (direct flights).
  • The number of qualifying miles determines the membership Tier level (Red, Silver or Gold).
  • Non-qualifying miles are miles earned as Tier Bonus, miles allocated from nominee travels, miles earned from Internet Check In, Internet Sales and other bonuses, miles earned from our Partners (airline and non-airline partners). These miles will not be considered for card renewal or card tier change but can be used for awards.
  • To ensure that your miles for each trip are credited to your account, your Kestrelflyer number must be inserted in your booking.
  • Miles have a lifetime of 3 years and expire on a monthly rolling basis.
  • Missing miles requests with our airline partners should be made within 6 months of the flight date.
  • Bonus miles earned as Tier Bonus, miles earned from Internet Check In and Internet Sales and other bonuses are non-qualifying and will not be considered for card renewal or card tier change.
