China flights open up Mauritius stopover opportunities for South Africa
Take a look at the Air Mauritius route map, and you’ll see just how easy it is to plan a trip to some of the world’s most exciting destinations.
If you’re heading to China from South Africa for example, why not treat yourself to a Mauritius stopover on the way? Air Mauritius currently flies three times per week from South Africa to Shanghai, twice per week to Hong Kong, and once per week to Beijing, with a second Beijing flight commencing in mid-July. If you’re looking to combine business with pleasure it makes perfect sense to break up your journey with an extended stay in Mauritius of a few days, or perhaps an even longer vacation.
Travellers flying to these destinations receive an extra 7kg of baggage allowance too.
‘It’s a popular choice among corporate travellers especially,’ says Carla da Silva, head of Air Mauritius in South Africa. ‘They respond to the exotic appeal of an Indian Ocean island and seek a peek at Port Louis too.’
Port Louis’ Le Caudan Waterfront is a must for every visitor, but especially for those with limited time. Some 170 shops and boutiques make for diverse retail therapy; there’s live entertainment with typical Mauritian, Eastern or Western cuisine to enjoy, plus plenty of coffee shops, pastry counters and ice-cream parlours to sample. It’s a great way to spend any evening and, according to Carla, ‘it’s where it’s all at on a one night stopover’.
And don’t forget we have a fleet of three helicopters to assist in making the most of your stay – whether you require a super quick airport-to-hotel transfer, fancy a quick round of heli-golf, or wish to experience the best aerial views of Mauritius on a sightseeing tour.
